PEER REVIEW SYSTEM AT INDEXA PERIODICALS
Except for editorials and special sections, any article published in an Indexa scientific periodical is subject to a review and approval process. The stages are:
- Screening
Upon receipt, the articles are pre-selected by the journal’s chief editor. Articles that include invalid studies, are irrelevant or deal with obsolete issues are excluded at this stage.
- Editorial Review
Articles that pass the screening stage are reviewed by the executive editor. This is a literary review. The editor will suggest modifications to improve reading fluency, clarity and textual cohesion. He will also check that the text complies with ethical rules, editorial standards and sanitary legislation, if applicable.
- Correction by the author (optional)
If article organization or comprehension is compromised or there is a risk that the study is breaching legislation, the executive editor may suggest corrections to the author. Otherwise, the article is submitted to the first reviewer.
- First reviewer
The article is submitted to the first reviewer who is selected by their area of expertise. The reviewer will check the scientific validity of the article, its originality and other issues.
- Correction by the author (optional)
If the first reviewer believes that the study is not scientifically valid, that it is not original or that there are reasons to advise against publication, the author will be invited to make amendments. In some cases, the article cannot be validated and will be excluded.
- Second reviewer
The article is then submitted to a second reviewer, alongside the notes from the first reviewer. The second reviewer conducts a scientific review based on the same criteria.
- Correction by the author
After the second review, the author is invited to access the article and make corrections in line with the reviewers’ suggestions.
- Reviewing corrections
Both reviewers and the chief editor are invited to review the corrected version of the article and approve or exclude it.
- Approval
If the corrections comply with the reviewers’ suggestions, the article is approved and is slated for inclusion in the publication. Otherwise, the author is informed that the article has been excluded or that it requires further corrections.
- Publication
According to the editorial schedule and the subject matter, the approved article is selected for publication in a specific edition of the magazine. Selection aims to avoid publication of several articles on the same subject in a single edition.
The complete review process, excluding author corrections, may take up to 180 days, but is generally shorter.
The entire process is conducted online. The author may access the article submission system online at any time from the magazine website and check review progress.
When submitting an article, the author must provide a valid and frequently accessed e-mail address, which will be used to inform the author of any corrections that may be required.
